6 Checklist Guidelines to Ensure You Bought the Right Condo By John Burton Posted on August 28, 2018 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Buying a condo will probably be the largest financial commitment that you ever make. This means that there is a great deal of pressure to make the right choice as with all of the expenses and closing cost that need to be paid as you buy property, it is not easy to change your mind. So, how do you know that you have made the right choice of condos? Read on to find out. 1. You trust your real estate agent Step one it to make sure that you are using a reputable real estate agent that has a proven track record of getting their clients a condo that they love. After you have done your due diligence on your real estate agent you should be confident that they know what they’re doing. You should trust your gut instinct when it comes to choosing a real estate agent as you will need to trust them a great deal. 2. You’re excited by the house the first time you see it First impressions should carry a lot of weight when it comes to looking at a new home to buy. As you approach the house for the first time you should be asking yourself how you feel and what are your first thoughts upon seeing it from the side of the road. Have you immediately fallen in love with your condo or are you filled with doubts and see nothing but problems? This can be very telling and you should listen to your gut on this. 3. You feel at home the moment you walk in the door Upon entering the property you should feel that this is a home, or at least that it has a welcoming embrace as you walk through the front door. If the home feels cold to you then that is not the end of the world, you should look to see if there is anything that you could do to make the experience of entering the home a little bit more comfortable. This can be something as simple as a paint job, a new rug, or a new light fixture. Whatever solutions that you have in mind, just remember that they need to be factored into your budget. 4. How do you react to the bathroom When you first see it your body language will be telling. Do you hover outside of the door and just poke your head in, or do you confidently walk in and start opening cupboards. You need to be comfortable in your bathroom and if you are afraid to enter it, this is a bad sign. 5. You get defensive right away When you see some houses sometimes all you can see are flaws. The tap is old fashioned, the floors are ugly, you don’t like the ceilings, etc… When you start to defend a house for it’s flaws this can be an indication that you really do love it there. It could be something as simple as your realtor pointing out that the backyard needs a lot of work, if your initial reaction is to defend it and say that you could fix that up no problem, you might be looking at your next home. 6. You start to plan where all of your furniture will go If you are mentally planning out the layout of your new home’s furniture then you have already started to picture yourself living in the home. This can be a really great way to establish that you are going to love living here.
